Illustration Graduate 2013
The Chesterfield based illustrator started his studies on an Art & Design course covering multiple disciplines, before attending the University of Lincoln. Though originally intending to work in a more painterly style for Video games, over the years Stuart has appreciated children’s literature and editorial illustration, developing his unique style over the course of his studies.
Whilst studying at the University of Lincoln, Stuart’s studio on Steep Hill allowed him to view the Cathedral on a daily basis. Having spent a lot of time taking photographs of the cathedral and its surrounding area, Stuart’s illustration is based on a photograph taken from a window in Chad Varah House.
“I spent a lot of time walking in and around the Cathedral, but this view outside the University building was my most memorable image at University, and I wanted to do immortalise it in my art. The addition of the Red Arrows to the illustration is to provide an extra piece of Lincoln to the artwork.”
Since graduating in 2013, Stuart has worked as a Graphic Design and Marketing Manager for a small business, and recently returned to being a Freelance Illustrator. Now working on other cityscape artworks in a similar style, Stuart is putting together of collection of artwork of the Nations landmarks and cities that he hopes to exhibit in the near future.
