Businesses and organisations have rushed to link their names to all 35 sculptures in The Lincoln Knights’ Trail, ensuring that the public art event can be installed across the city, where it can be enjoyed by tourists and local people from May 20 to September 4, 2017.
Lincoln Business Improvement Group is now starting its search for artists to decorate the Knight figures – which are based on actual historical figures.
The Lincoln Knights’ Trail will form part of the 800th anniversary commemorations of The Battle of Lincoln Fair in 1217 and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest. It will be unique to Lincoln.
Once again, Lincoln BIG has teamed-up with Wild in Art to create the new Trail, which is expected to prove popular with both local people and visitors from far and wide.
The historical theme behind the Trail has also given Lincoln BIG a superb opportunity to run an educational programme by teaming-up with the EBP (Education Business Partnership). Schools across Lincolnshire will have the chance to get involved with their very own medium-sized Knight.
In addition, Visit Lincoln plans to organise a treasure hunt, encouraging people to “collect” all of the Knights.
The knight sculpture has been created by Wild in Art’s Creative Director Chris Wilkinson and it will be the perfect canvas to showcase the artistic talent of Lincoln.
